Subway Sexual Crimes Increase and My Solution

I believe that sexual crimes against women in the subway will increase dramatically over the next year and let me explain why.

I have had the unfortunate experience lately of riding the subway on a regular bases especially during rush hour. It is a humiliating and degrading experience for me. I am routinely jammed in so tight that I had my hip in one guys crotch, my breasts up against another's back, my shoulders against a foreign body. I am packed so tight that I can smell the breath of ten different people, I know which woman are menstruating and the smell of body gas make me want to puke. Can you imagine that mothers are letting their young daughters experience this as a normal subway scenario? I will no longer let any daughter of mine ride the subway period.

This is a definitively disgusting way to journey to and from work on a daily bases. On top of that, this scenario has pervert plastered all over it. Where else can a good perv get a little touchy feely action without being caught? I am absolutely sure that pervs take the train at rush hours purposely just to enjoy a little harmless action and yes they get worked up enough to attempt a rape.

The SOLUTION? Well yes... I actually have one. Two cars at the back of the train should be reserved. One for men and one for women. That way I can have a choice of which way I want to experience my commute. Not only that women caught with infant that need to be fed can do it comfortably in the Women Only car.

Rape at Bowery Station on Lower East Side

Mr Torres was arrested yesterday for the rape of a 29 year old woman at the Bowery subway station on the lower east side. With a screwdriver in hand he threw the woman onto the tracks and began raping her. Thankfully due to the surveillance cameras Mr. Torres did not get far. Actually he was on his way back to the homeless shelter in the area.

I feel this is just a series of attacks on woman in the subway system that is going to continue to grow and if you read my next blog you will find out why.

SuperBowl Congratulations NYC

I am not a big sports fan but the finals of anything are exciting. I'd like to give a big shout out to NY. Congratulations!!
This wouldn't be a super bowl blog without however commenting on the commercials. Sadly the quality of this years Superbowl commercials has taken a big step back. Through a plethora of average car commercials to some really tasteless 30 second spots.
Even Jerry Seinfield got into the game selling an Accura.
By far the worst car commercial was for the Fiat 500, which was immature and insulting.
The car commercial I liked the best was for the Mustang. Not so much for the commercial but I really liked that car.

The two top commercials go to E-trade and Sketchers. E-trade didn't reinvent the wheel here. They stuck to what has been tired and true- those adorable little babies taking stock shop. Sketchers had this really cute French Bulldog named Quigly running around. I guess you just can't loose with dogs and babies.

The worst commercial really stood out for me. Tax Act.com told a story of a little boy who while in his swimming pool needs to urinate. Consequently, he runs inside the house to discover that there are no bathrooms available. What is his solution? Well, he jumps back into the pool where his sister is frolicking and lets it rip. I was absolutely disgusted. What does this have to do with filing taxes? Whoever wrote this one was a suppressed golden shower fetishist.

The other commercial that absolutely disgusted me was CarreerBuilding.com. I actually like this company and know many people that have had great success with their website. The commercial however was inhumane and irresponsible and showed many chimp babies walking around. Do you know what happens to most of these animals when they reach maturity and can no longer be managed? The majority suffer greatly. Some are caged, sold as roadside spectacles and chained up for the rest of their lives. Some are sold as lab animals and will be housed in 3 x 4ft cages in which they can barely stand and most likely be isolated from all contact with their own kind. I was disgusted by the lack of education that some of use have strived so hard to impart. You might want to check out a great organization called savethechimps if you want to get involved.

Stephanie Madoff says Bernie Riuned my Life

There is no question in my mind that when you come home so find your husband hanging from a dog leash in the living room your life is changed forever. No family should have to go through that. But according to Bazaar magazine Stephanie Madoff has moved on, changed her name and vows that her father-in law Bernie Madoff has ruined her life. In fact in the article she vows that she won't allow him to continue to do so.

Funny, however, I'm not sure how exactly Bernie has ruined her life. Seems he ruined it by the very nature of getting caught. Before that happened Stephanie, lived in the lap of luxury enjoying all the spoils that Bernie had to offer. I wonder if it ever occurred to her to even asked how such a fortune was amassed. Did she wonder where her diamonds came from or how that yacht got funded?. Come on Stephanie... Bernie didn't ruin your life. You loved Bernie, you loved his status and you loved the lifestyle afforded to you. And if he hadn't been caught you'd still be enjoying his fortune.

Happy New Year Where Have I Been?

Welcome back my dear friends and Happy New Year. My husband had a really bad accident and my landlord Kosbel Reality managed by RTD reality decided somewhere along the line that they wanted me out of my rent stabilized apartment. Well somehow this has turned into an ugly battle and every month papers come to my home from the office of Allison Furman to drag me back to court. I have endured over 54 court appearances over the last three years. And get this. The landlord Michael Kosta and the managing Agent Orrin Fiengold have not appeared even once in court not even once.
As you can imagine this had caused great stress in my life and continues to cause I go back to court tomorrow.

I was personally told by Michael Kosta himself that, "he does not care how much it cost him, his attorney Allison Furman will continue to harrass me". So there you have it in a nutshell. Oh and last January Orrin Fiengold threw a hard rubber dog toy as I walked away from him. The attack was so violent that two strangers called the police for me and a harassment report was filed.
I know right? This should be a movie.

So this has put a great damper on my blog time but I'm back now ande ready to rock and roll.

Technology Rape The Disposable Generations

You want to know why this country is in debt? Well, let me present this theory to you. We have a technologically based disposable culture that is in a feeding frenzy that has put this country and this economy in the dumps. Not to mention the huge increase in landfill pollution something never been experienced before. How ironic for a culture that prides itself on protecting the environment.

Where did we go wrong? First we took the manufacturing base from the economy and gave it to China. Then we were sold a bill of goods. It goes like this... give it to us cheap and new and make us buy the same item over and over again.

So what happens here? Why don't you have any money? You have a good job you make ok money why don't you have a downpayment saved on your house? Why don't you have a savings account?

Let me tell you why. Fifty years ago a family bought a television that lasted around 10 or 15 years. Now let me break this down for you. This is how we purchases items now. The companies that sell techonogy based products look at you as a customer over a lifetime. In this exapmle of where your money is going I am going to be very conservative in my numbers, but you will get the picture.

If you start having purchasing power at 25 years old and continue to 75 that is 50 (FIFTY) years of purchasing power. These days you have to buy at least one television set every three years to keep up with the technology so over the course of FIFTY years you will have bought about 17 television sets. ( Don't forget that most people have two or three sets in their homes) OK, so that's 17 televisions at about $2000.00 each makes a total of $32,000 dollars over your lifetime to purchase televisions. And you know, this is a very conservative number.

You will have thrown out 17 televisions and put out $32,000.00 in buying televisions.

But that's not all lets factor in the cell phone. You've got to replace that thing every 2 years at a cost of say $200.00? So thats 25 cell phones over your lifetime and that's another $5000.00.

So far on just two technological items you have spent about $40,000.00 over your lifetime and I know and you know that is a very, very lowball number.

Now let's take the computer under consideration. . You need a new one of those every 3 (three years). That is 17 (seventeen computers) at $1500.00 each. Thats another $25,500.00.

Then there's the internet at about $40.00 a month for 50 years is $24,000.00.

With only those four items you have spent $85,0000.00 over your lifetime. That's the downpayment for your house. Ripped right out from underneath you.

This is where all our disposable income is going. WE MUST look for ways to stop this frenzy, we must demand that technological items are made to last. Not only for our pocket book but for our landfills. Can you imagine how may teckno gadgets are thrown away? There is no such thing as repairing. When you get a new something please keep in mind that the old something has to go somewhere.

So let's stop the rape. Americans make make good money and work hard we can't let this continue to happen. We can't let corporate America sell us this bills of goods or we are going to literally bury ourselves in technology.

Have you ever wondered where all the flashers of late have gone. We don't see them on subways anymore or lurking in the dark waiting for a woman. In fact it has occured to me that we don't see them at all. So where did they go? It is hard to believe that this age old fetish would just disappear from our very visual culture.

Well Weiner has answered this question for me. The flashers have changed their forum. The flashers have flocked to the internet. Weiner is an internet flasher. Merely one amoung hundreds of other flashing folk. In fact I think that maybe the internet has increased the numbers of people who partake in this fetish. I think internet flashers have become the norm.

I picked up the New York Post today and could not believe what I was reading. Apparently the media is up in arms calling Arnold's girlfriend ugly. What gives anyone the right to label this woman as ugly. What makes a woman beautiful these days? Skinny and sickly and white?

This discrimiation should not be tolerated. Men love women of all types of shapes and sizes and apparently the feeling was mutual ten years later and a baby. Even my main girl Andrea Peyser can't seem to fathom why a big guy would love a thick gal. Maybe she's been handing around too many white folks.

Women in American unite no woman deserves to be labelled as ugly or unattractive because she is not stick thin and white. I cannot believe this name calling is being tolerated. What's more important here is Arnold's behaviour not whether the media thinks his mistress is attractive or not. Obviously she turned his crank so leave the woman alone. She is a beautiful classy and full bodied gal. Here's one for the big gals!!!!!

I sat home with warm and fuzzy feelings, the generosity the giving the true American "can do" spirit was alive and well. Then jnfortunately, the shit hit the fan, my world was erased. All goodwill trashed all faith smashed. And the catalyst of it all? Well Star Jones could be expected to do this diry work but Marlee Matlin made the fatal mistake. When Trump turned to her and asked "You can made the decision if I should fire the men," Marlee riding high on her win and obvious ego rush said unequivically "yes.".I believe her statement was ,"We went through hell so they should to". (Come on Marlee do you know what this message sends to young girls and women and aspiring business people? Well let me tell you it's a really shitty one). Basically Marlee believes that because she went through hell she should pass it on to others. Great message Marlee. That's right...if get shit on I should shit on someone else. And with that disgusting decision you brought anger and chaos and hate and conflict to what could have been a perfect evening. You are no business woman Marlee, heart is what it takes and you have none. And yes while you might be able to earn big bucks for charity there is no charity in your heart. Today I lost two friends. First my little bird Hiccup that has been with me for five years and Juan a chimp at a facility in Florida called Save the Chimpe. http://savethechimips.org/. I'm just posting a little pick of my bird and Juan.

Juan spent fifteen years in solitary confinement in a research center before he was found by Save the Chimps. Please take the time to donate to this wonderful organization. I will be taking a volunteer vacation there this winter and will keep you posted.

I had a great time in Mystic Connecticut. We went to an exclusive area called Lord's Point. That means that you can't buy your way in... you have to be invited. Peter and I and Henry had an amazing time. We were surrounded by Hollywood royalty. Our fabulous hostess had a famous mom who was the agent of Marlene Dietrich and Charlton Heston just to name a few.

Here are some of our pics. And yes that's the real color of the the hydrangea's. By the way it was lobster season and we bought them fresh and cooked right off a roadside fisherman! As you can see the house was built on stilts right in the water the ocean was at my feet . I woke every morning at dawn to let the mist greet me. Definitely mystical and magical!!!!

We were also invited to a private fireworks show at the mansion across the bay ( can't tell you who) but it was awesom.

I've got three great money saving tips for you. First call your credit card company and ask them to put a cap on your credit line. That way charges will NOT go through if your just a dollar over which can cost you an overpayment fee of at least $30.00.

The second tip isn't brought up much but will save you bundle. Technology is costing us a fortune. Take the web off your phone. With most plans you'll still be able to text and get your email but no web. That will save you upwards of five hundred dollars a year.

I have a treat for you! There is nowhere in the city where you can get this view of Manhattan, enjoy a cold draft and wiggle your toes in the sand. Visit Governor's Island this weekend.

To get there, take the 4 subway line to Bowling Green and walk toward the Staten Island Ferry. The ferry to Governor's it to the left. The boats leave every half hour on the hour and it's free and open to the public.

I've worked on corporate projects many times and the "wall of silence" I've encountered because I'm a creative problem solver has been overwhelming.

Arizona Immigration Law

So you what to know what the problem is with this horrific law? Let me illuminate you.
First, it is a standard fact that the police and immigration do not mix. If you get arrested for something the police have no business investigating your immigration status. Now that's all changed under the law. The police can pull anyone over at anytime and report their status.

The second and most disgusting part about this law is a little more complicated. Say for example you are a refugee who came here twenty years ago and you've never applied for Citizenship although you are legally a landed resident.

Under the previous federal immigration law you have to commit a felony in order to be deported. A felony as we all know is a serious crime of car theft, bank theft, murder, and rape. And this is where the new immigration law in Arizona get nuts. The definition of a felony under the law in not what you'd think.

The unbelievable fact is that under the immigration law a felony is defined as any crime that comes with a maximum sentence of a year or more. So in effect a small misdemeanor charge in criminal court becomes a felony in immigration court and basically you can piss on the street get arrested and get deported for a felony! Now got it? Now fight it!

My advice to Tiger

Life wouldn't be complete if I didn't weight in on this situation. Tiger is a powerful, successful young male. He likes the ladies a lot- obviously. My advice to Tiger is this.

First, get a divorce, there is no way you are going to stay home, stop golfing and suddenly become a better husband. Obviously you don't want to be married so pay the girl.

Second, keep golfing. It's the only thing that you have left, it gives you strength it's part of your identity. If you keep yourself from that sport it will be like cutting off your right arm.

Third, close the checkbook. Pay no one for their silence. Let them have their moment of fame. This to shall pass. Best of luck Tiger!!!!

Fourth, fire all the people that surrounded you and created this nightmare. You were set up to fall. You might be down for the count but you're not out.

U.E.S. Winter Windows Flowers of NYC

The challenge for me has been to find as many wonderful windows and lobbies on the U.E.S as I can find in this Xmas season.

First mention goes to Flowers of NYC on 1621 First Avenue, at 84th street. They made this window look like a winter wonderland and I just love it. Also they have a great St. Nicholas Santa that your kids are going to love to pose with.

I'm sorry I haven't blogged lately, but I'm shooting a sixteen episode reality show and it's been an awesom expereince.

Visual Alchemy: Peter G. Pereira’s “Hydrangean Epiphanies” by Hila Ratzibi August 10. 09

The latest work by artist Peter G. Pereira straddles genre and mediums to create a hybrid form dubbed by the artist as “surreal photographic paintings.”

Composited over a period of four years, these pieces were gleaned from roughly 10,000 photographs of hydrangeas taken by the artist at Carl Shurz Park, on the upper east side of Manhattan, which were later “painted,” modified, and reconstituted digitally. The result is a kaleidoscopic panorama of floral repetitions, in hundreds of shades of purple and blue, which draw the viewer in and hold the gaze in a kind of sustained hypnotic attention.

Appropriately, the pieces were exhibited in the backyard garden of the upper east side bookstore, Logos, run by Harris Healy, who had the unique vision to display the work among plants and flowers. The juxtaposition of real plant life with artistic representations of flowers added a layer of visual irony to the experience, highlighting both the confluences and contradictions between nature and art which were part of the artist’s vision.
What appear at first glance to be merely O’Keeffe-like photographs of flowers, doubled and redoubled in mechanical arrangement, become more than what they seem upon closer examination. Like a Rorschach test, strange images emerge between the surface shapes, out of the emptiness of negative space. Seemingly innocuous images yield sudden, minor terrors; black eyes peer out of the space where petal corners meet: eerie, yet simultaneously delicate and gentle. The eye travels between the foregrounded floral images and the shapes hidden in the background, as though journeying between consciousness and unconsciousness. Peel your eye for seated Buddhas, lotuses, alien-like faces, birds, and dragonflies. At times, images seem to randomly materialize, and one wonders whether these are visual coincidences or part of the artist’s plan. In other cases, the artist imposes more authorial control, by chiseling recognizable symbols out of the photographic compositions, such as crosses and stars of David.

This collision of the organic image of flowers with familiar human symbol systems represents the fundamental irony and contradiction inherent in this work. It brings to the forefront the human influence on nature, but without the obvious display of the artist’s immanence found in more painterly pieces. These are vestiges of technology’s cold yet consistent hand, its ability to reproduce, refract, and reassemble. But human vision, while distant and removed from these surfaces, is ever-present though unseen, like an omniscient, third-person narrator, more organizing principle than immediate presence.

The technological dimension of these pieces brings to mind mass production, the commodification of the natural world. Yet at the same time, the computerized reproduction of these botanical photographs mimics the very patterns in nature itself. Look closely at the leather-like texture of a leaf, its repeated lines and surface symmetries, and it is not unlike the repetitive patterns imposed by the artist. There is a harmony between the world of nature and the world of human technology, but an acknowledged detachment is required for the artist (and the viewer) to enact that relationship. Where realism attempts to represent an exact visual replication of nature, these abstract photographic manipulations attempt to mimic the underlying patterns that govern the natural world. The human witness disappears, the artist’s hand invisible, and what remains is the almost hubric desire to understand the secret processes of creation. These pieces are an act of visual alchemy, sometimes bizarre, but often wondrous and playful. They transport the viewer through realms where reality and imagination are blurred, where nature is simply a mirror of the human mind.

Just recently however Mr. Young began to tire of pointing and yelling when asked for the location of refrigerated items. Consequently, he has devised a brilliant system. Mr. Young has now placed numbers on all the doors of his refrigerator and is exceedingly proud of his discovery. So when you go to the K.Y. Grocery please ask for an item and then ask for the door number.... it only took him 30 years in business to figure it out! LOL

As many of you know I am an animal rights person with a lot to say on the matter. Today the Daily News reported animal cruelty taking place at the Barnum Bailey Circus. Its not the first time such allegations have surfaced. It makes me wonder about the psychological profiles of the people who are allowed to work in the field of training and caring for exotic animals. This has got to STOP! I am sick to my stomach.

Also, congratulations to the individual who had the guts to secure this footage whoever you are!

Businesses are falling like flies on 86th street and the consequences are dire. I have noticed the awnings looking ratty, the empty storefronts staying empty and the sniff of quiet desperation from the remaining businesses. If you're wondering why the landlords won't make a deal to a tenant they have know for years, you just need to look at the tax law. There's a rule which will let them write off the empty space as a loss. Therefore, landlords have no motivation to rent or negotiate. If you think we learned something about greed after the economic collapse you're wrong. Apparently some people still did not get the message.

I took a pic of the Georgica which used to sport a spotless entrance. Now elegance has taken a turn for the worse. Turns out it's expensive to keep up appearances.

Business are dropping like flies on 86th street but when I saw this one go my heart sank. Nature's Gift is gone after over 15 years in business. I often remember walking home late at night it could be dark, or rainy or just plain lonely and so often my eyes were drawn to the welcoming sight of great tomatoes at an even greater price. Because of their top quality produce I found myself experimenting with eggplant, avocados and artichokes. By giving me choice they expanded my palate and made me a healthier person over the years.

I recall their home cooking take -out, and a variety of soups so yummy they fed me for a full meal.

Walking home last week I saw this sign. And thought this shouldn't have happened after all those years couldn't the landlord negotiate a deal? Then someone informed that the landlords get a tax break when store front goes unrented so they have no motivation to lower rents. Let's not loose anymore of our neighbour heart beats this way. Once they're gone they don't come back. We don't get a second chance.

My favorite artist had a sculpture exhibition on Governors Island this weekend. It was during a festival called "Figment" which is getting bigger and better every year. Do yourself a favour one weekend jump on the 4 Train, get to Bowling Green and catch the free ferry over to Governors Island. It's simply a magical place.

Peter G. Pereira made me look at a tree like I never looked at it before. The natural bumps and bruises became heightened as he wrapped them up in abstract swirling paintings that mimicked the age of the tree from the outside in. This was simply spectacular! The kids loved it and I hope he gets to do all of Central Park!

While watching 60 minutes last night I happened upon a story by Morley Safer called "Fountain of Youth in an Rx bottle". And what's the story here?

It's about Sirtris Labs, combining 1000 bottles of wine into one pill. What outraged me are the lab scenes.

The real story that 60 minutes missed was the blatant cruelty that their lab monkey's are suffering. Check out these cages!! And kept there for up to 27 years, isolated from any contact with their brethren. Look at these pics and tell me if this doesn't violate animal rights laws. I want these monkey's out of this nightmare and into an sanctuary!!!!

I'm a big fan of the show. I run my own business and I play along from home and I'm getting an enhanced M.B.A. compliments from Mr. Donald Trump. I wonder if he realized how invaluable this show is for small business people.

But what I saw Annie Duke do over the past few episodes has blown me away. This woman can pick up the phone and have someone fly to New York from Vegas with fifty grand in cash for her at the drop of a hat.

Do you realize how hard it is to ask people for money? Try this exercise. Phone up a local friend and ask them for five hundred dollars cash and get them to deliver it to your home in a couple of hours. Then we can talk.

The respect and love and loyalty and commitment and trust that her friends have for her is over the top awesome and I've never heard of anything like it. This is something worth striving for in all our relationships in our own lives.

At about 9:45 last night I headed home from my night class. While walking down 84th street I heard middle eastern music. Here was a crowd gathered in front of Eli Hair Design.

The hairdressing place was having a party!

So... I stopped in and took a couple of photographs Belly dancer and all.

That's what I love about walking around New York. You never know what you're going to walk into.

If they throw a party like this they must do kick-ass hair!

Oprah gets it WRONG

Ive been watching the Oprah show lately and overall Oprah is the bomb. On the subject of sex and our kids however I think she has got it wrong. Gail and I stand on the same side on this one.
It's really NOT necessary to tell our young daughters about vibrators and pleasure at ten years old. Girls are different than boys in that they DO NOT have a penis.

She's suggesting that the more information the better but I don't think this is necessarily true. Our bodies will tell us when it's time to start asking questions. Our body always have. Little boys will get erections that what the male body does. It is really necessary to arm these little boys about the intimacies of little girls anatomies so that then can get started on their exploration right away?

What happened to the mystery? Why is mystery and self discovery such a problem? Our generation turned out OK and most of our moms didn't even talk about sex. Do we really have to throw ourselves in doing the exact opposite of what our mother's did? Is this about sex ed or proving a generation wrong?

And ..I don't buy the argument that because we are uncomfortable with our bodies we're uncomfotable taking about it. We're giving kids a gun and the bullets and we're letting them laod and shoot.

Never in my life have I tasted food so fresh and clean and I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. You can order to go and eat it standing up on the street at a stand attached to the truck ...or you can take it to go.

Their menu says they will deliver for a minimum of $12.00. The number is 347-216-9358. Do yourself a favour... before you hop on the bus or on the subway grab a taco.

Don't waste your time going to the Macy's flower show. It's like going to a Target department store. The advertising gets you all jazzed and the store lets you down. The flowers that were supposed to be rare and spectacular were hoisted way above our heads impossible to photograph. Forget this no show.

On the bright side however on 34th street between 6th and 7th on the north side of the street there is a great surreal place to eat. This Chinese restaurant gives you five items for rive bucks. The buffet table had got so many different choices that your mind will get boggled. And the freshness and cleanliness stands out.Don't let the Styrofoam plate fool you they really pack it on. And if you don't finish your meal just take your plate downstairs where a wonderful woman will wrap it up to go- no extra charge.

As if this wasn't enough at the front of the store they've got amazing French pastries and an entire wall devoted to the variation on the Chinese Pork Bun.

It becomes a surreal experience when you head upstairs. I suggest you take out and eat across the street but if you must...the experience starts upstairs. For starters, it's a little hot and something strange gets piped through the sound system. You begin to realize your listening to some kind of monotone cult-like voice speak to you about this plant that they found in the rain forest which is a miraculous cure for all health issues. As you eat the drone of the voice and the heat lulls you into a hypnotic state. If you're susceptible to suggestion bring earplugs and a fan, other wise don't miss this New York experience.

OK Wifi Enough!

I saw an article in the New York Post yesterday introducing a new pilot program into our schools. Instead of gym, instead of getting some fresh air, instead of getting their heads off a computer screen, instead of interacting physically in sports... someone has come up with the bright idea of putting a Wifi system in the schools. This way our kids can exercise in front of a screen.

Come on what are we thinking? How many hours do our kids spend in front of a screen a day? Let's count the number of screens the average kid sees a day. First it's phone screen to IM, then the screens at school, then they get home and watch the T.V. screen and do more homework in front of a screen. The last anyone need right now is an excuses to spend more time in front of a screen.

Has anyone examined the long term effect of this? Are we so naive that we don't see any consequences? Why don't we just glue a screen to every one's head and have that be the end of it?

Shitty Chairs? Unforgivable

I went to Penn Station in NYC to take a train ride to Long Island. I hadn't been there in years having no friends living in that direction. Wow the changes I saw!

First there were no seats at the train station at all. Everything had been removed. No place to hang your hat, no place to loiter... or like people used to do camp out there.

There was however one small waiting room that I found but low and behold the seats were disgusting. No one has thought to repair these seats and they are embarrassing and unwelcoming- not New York style at all.

The train ride however was really sweet! I think I'll get on just for the hell of it and discover some new places.

Rubber Boots in NYC?

I've often wondered about this phenomena. How long do those rubber boots have to stay in the closet before you get to wear them. It can't be too cold, or your feet will freeze. On the other hand, if it's too hot your legs will get sweaty and uncomfortable

So... forget about the winter or the summer.. It's got to be a spring day. It's got to rain a lot and there has to be the possibility of puddles. This does not happen often in NYC.

Apparently today was the day. While journeying downtown I noticed a plethora of rubber boots finally released from their place in the back of the closet.

That's right on 1st avenue between 88th and 89th you can't go wrong at the fabulous restaurant. (They don't pay me for this).

I just got home from lunch there and it was no surprise that they get a food rating of 21. Everything was fresh and tasty with varied flavours. (You know how Indian food can taste the same). Not here!

The buffet runs 7 days a week from 12 noon till 3:00 p.m. They also have a great take out business lunch from eight bucks.

I really recommend this place.

Declare War, on your Credit Cards

I received a lovely letter in the mail yesterday from my credit card company. They explained how awful the current economic situation is and how stressful it is and then in the same font told me they were raising my APR.

Then I see that loudmouth Suzie Orman on Oprah telling people NOT to pay off their credit cards. is this a flip flop or what? Apparently, in her world if we pay off our credit cards the companies will close the accounts. Oh... big deal!

I say good riddance. Don't listen to SUZIE, she'll keep you in debt and beholden to these companies for generation. I say get out while you can! And NOW is a good time to get out!

We got into this mess my racking up loads of credit. Tell your kids NOT to get credit cards, don't be held hostage to a credit rating. If you can't afford it don't buy it.

It's up to us to put the credit card companies OUT OF BUSINESS. Time for them to leave the stage.

Pay it off, cut if up NEVER return. They'll have NO ammunition. What will they threaten us with? In fact it's a good time to stop paying them altogether.

I understand ambition, I understand wanting to be in the limelight but this woman has got to stop exploiting her family- no wonder her kids are on drugs.

On their variety of crap show yesterday she paraded her husband and kids around like pigs in a blanket, serving up her or'd'oeuvres on how to be a shameless show mother.

Enough is enough!

And on the hush hush, apparently Sharon has another daughter who refuses to participate in this very sad spectacle of nonsense. At least, someone in this family has some sense.

And as for Ozzy, it was just disrespectful to his body of work to parade him around like that.

Stop Sharon ....stop.

Inside the amazing complex at the Lincoln center at Broadway and 60th stand two huge sculptures. I'm not sure what the name of the artist is but I've sen his work all over the city and it's fun and bulbous and aesthetically pleasing. In this case however I feel he missed the mark. Focusing on the genitalia of young children he created one male, with his penis sticking up into the air and one hairless female. This was a bit too much for me.It's one this to publicly display a male with a penis but the erect thing? I don't see the point here.

The best Seats in the House

I went to see a concert at the Lincoln Center at 60th and Broadway, in the Rose Theatre. I saw Brahms ein Requim and it was amazing. Not only that but we had the best seats in the house...our own balcony overlooking the stage!

Women on UES BEWARE!

At 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 4th two women were attacked from behind by a man with a bat. The attacks occurred on 90th and York and the other near First Avenue.

Later that night, at about 12:30 a.m. another woman was attached on East 89th and York by the same man with a bat.

PLEASE Ladies, be careful when walking alone and please take the iPod's out of your ears.
